Planning budget
≈ €1,451(IDR 30,000,000 original)Rate snapshot 2026-08-26This route resists the temptation to collect islands. Bali gets two genuinely different bases, Komodo gets one properly organised boat trip, and the only internal flight is a return hop to Labuan Bajo. Everything else is time on the ground.
The buffer day after the boat is not padding. Sailings are cancelled for weather, separate tickets do not protect one another, and a day spent swimming in Labuan Bajo is a far better outcome than a missed connection. Book the boat weeks ahead in peak season, confirm exactly which park fees, guides, meals and transfers the fare covers, and check the Nyepi date before you buy anything at all.
The route
Day-by-day route
- Day 01
Arrive in Bali
Land at Denpasar, transfer to a first base and keep the evening to one meal nearby.
Bali
- Day 02
The interior on foot
Walk a ridge or a rice-terrace path at first light, then stay out of the midday sun.
Bali
- Day 03
Temples and workshops
Pair one water temple with a village craft workshop instead of a full-island driving day.
Bali
- Day 04
A day with nothing booked
Use the flexible day for a market, a long lunch and the thing you noticed on arrival.
Bali
- Day 05
Move east to the hills
Shift to a quieter second base among the eastern rice country and slow the pace down.
Bali
- Day 06
Walk the rice country
Take a valley walk between villages, and let the afternoon be genuinely unstructured.
Bali
- Day 07
The east coast
Reach the coast for a swim and an early dinner rather than another inland transfer.
Bali
- Day 08
Fly to Labuan Bajo
Take the short hop to Flores and use the afternoon to confirm the boat details in person.
Labuan Bajo
- Day 09
Board the Komodo boat
Start the overnight trip, taking the first ridge walk in the late-afternoon light.
Labuan Bajo
- Day 10
Padar and the dragons
Climb Padar at dawn, then visit the ranger-led dragon walk before the day boats arrive.
Labuan Bajo
- Day 11
Reefs and the return
Snorkel or dive the manta channel, then run back into the harbour by late afternoon.
Labuan Bajo
- Day 12
Weather buffer in Labuan Bajo
Keep this day empty so a cancelled sailing costs you a swim, not an international flight.
Labuan Bajo
- Day 13
Fly back to Bali
Return to the island and take a base near the south coast for the final stretch.
Bali
- Day 14
A coastal day
Swim in the morning, eat well, and leave the afternoon deliberately unplanned.
Bali
- Day 15
Last flexible day
Spend it on whatever the trip has made you curious about, close to the airport.
Bali
- Day 16
Depart from Denpasar
Match the last morning to the flight and the transfer arranged the night before.
