Privacy policy
What Enjoy Asia Today collects, why we are allowed to, how long we keep it and what you can demand from us under the GDPR.

1. Who is responsible for your data
The controller for the personal data described here is SV Marketing, operating the website Enjoy Asia Today.
For anything in this policy, including exercising your rights, write to info@enjoy-asia.today. Please use this address for privacy requests as well as general questions.
2. The short version
This is a reading site. There are no accounts, no logins and no newsletter. We do not sell personal data, we do not build advertising profiles, and no analytics or marketing script runs before you have opted in through the cookie banner. Most of what the site remembers stays in your own browser and is never transmitted to us.
3. What we collect and why
3.1 Information stored on your device
Your currency preference, your saved shortlist and your cookie decision are stored locally in your browser (cookie eat_currency, local storage key eat_saved_v1, cookie eat_consent_v1). This data is not sent to a server and we cannot read it. Clearing your browser storage erases it permanently.
3.2 Server and hosting logs
Our hosting and infrastructure providers may record standard request data when a page is served, including IP address, timestamp, requested URL, referrer and user agent. This is used to deliver the site, keep it available and defend against abuse. Operational logs are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes and applicable legal obligations.
3.3 Images loaded from Unsplash
Photography on destination and country pages is delivered by Unsplash (images.unsplash.com). Because your browser requests those files directly, Unsplash receives your IP address and user agent. We pass no other information to them.
3.4 Analytics
At the date above the site runs no analytics or measurement script. If we ever add one, it will be listed in the cookie policy, will load only after you grant the Analytics category in the banner, and this policy will be updated first. No analytics provider is currently enabled.
3.5 Affiliate and commercial links
Some outbound links to partners such as Booking.com and Skyscanner carry a campaign identifier so a partner can attribute a booking to this site. We receive aggregate commission reporting, not your identity. Once you follow such a link you are on the partner's website and their privacy policy and cookies apply, not ours.
3.6 When you contact us
If you email us we process your address, your message and anything you choose to include, to answer you and to keep a record of the exchange. Correspondence is deleted when it is no longer reasonably needed, unless we need it longer for a legal claim or legal obligation.
4. Lawful basis
| Purpose | Lawful basis (GDPR art. 6) |
|---|---|
| Delivering the site, security and abuse prevention | Legitimate interests, art. 6(1)(f) |
| Remembering currency, shortlist and cookie choice | Strictly necessary for a service you requested; art. 6(1)(f) and the ePrivacy exemption |
| Analytics, if and when enabled | Consent, art. 6(1)(a) |
| Marketing and affiliate attribution cookies | Consent, art. 6(1)(a) |
| Replying to your messages | Legitimate interests, art. 6(1)(f) |
| Keeping records required by law (e.g. accounting) | Legal obligation, art. 6(1)(c) |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, our interest is running and improving an independent travel publication; we have weighed that against your rights and use the least intrusive option available. You can object at any time (see section 8).
5. Cookies and similar technologies
Full details, including every cookie name, purpose and lifetime, are in the cookie policy. Non-essential cookies are set only after opt-in, per category, and you can change your mind at any moment.
6. Who else processes your data
- Hosting and infrastructure providers — hosting, content delivery and server logs.
- Unsplash — image delivery; receives your IP address when images load.
- Booking.com, Skyscanner and other affiliate partners — only if you click an outbound commercial link; independent controllers from that point on.
- Email provider — handles email you send us.
- No analytics provider currently — no analytics script is enabled.
We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. Processors act on our documented instructions under a data processing agreement.
7. International transfers
Some service providers may operate outside the European Economic Area. Where personal data leaves the EEA, we use an adequacy decision where one exists and otherwise appropriate lawful safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. You can ask us for information about the safeguards used for a specific transfer.
8. Retention
- Device-side preferences: until you clear your browser storage.
- Cookie consent record: six months, after which we ask again.
- Server logs: only as long as reasonably necessary for delivery, security and legal obligations.
- Email correspondence: until it is no longer reasonably needed, subject to legal obligations.
- Records kept for legal or accounting reasons: for the period required by applicable law.
9. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- Access (art. 15) — obtain confirmation of whether we process data about you and receive a copy of it.
- Rectification (art. 16) — have inaccurate data corrected or completed.
- Erasure (art. 17) — have your data deleted where we no longer have a valid reason to keep it.
- Restriction (art. 18) — have processing paused while a dispute about accuracy or lawfulness is resolved.
- Portability (art. 20) — receive data you provided in a structured, machine-readable format, or have it sent to another controller.
- Objection (art. 21) — object to processing based on our legitimate interests, including any profiling, and absolutely to direct marketing.
- Withdraw consent (art. 7(3)) — withdraw cookie or other consent at any time, as easily as you gave it, without affecting processing that already happened. Use the cookie settings button above.
- Complain to a supervisory authority (art. 77) — lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your country of residence, work or the place of the alleged infringement.
To exercise any of these, email info@enjoy-asia.today. We answer within one month and free of charge. We may ask for enough information to be sure the request is genuinely yours.
10. Automated decision-making
We do not carry out automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal effects or similarly significantly affects you.
11. Children
The site is aimed at a general audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We update this policy when the site changes. Material changes — in particular adding a new processor or a new tracking technology — are made here before the change goes live, and where they rely on consent we will ask you again.
