Three bands cover most independent travel here, all per person and excluding the international flight. A lean day is Rp450,000 to Rp700,000, roughly €24 to €37: a dorm bed, warung meals, public transport or shared app rides and mostly free sights. A private and moving day is Rp900,000 to Rp1,600,000, about €47 to €84, with a simple private room, a mix of warung and sit-down meals, and train, ferry or domestic-flight costs averaged across the trip. A comfortable day is Rp2,000,000 to Rp3,500,000, around €105 to €184: a good small hotel or apartment, restaurants most nights, regular private transfers and the occasional boat day or guided excursion. Luxury sits above that and has no ceiling.
Food barely moves the number. A warung plate of nasi goreng, gado-gado or soto is Rp20,000 to Rp50,000, which is one to three euros, and a full day of eating well from stalls comes to €6 to €12. The gap between the bands shows up at dinner: a sit-down restaurant meal in Ubud, Seminyak or central Jakarta is €8 to €20, and a tourist-front terrace charges roughly twice the warung price for air-conditioning and an English menu rather than better cooking.
Beds set the band. A dorm is €5 to €11 nationally, a simple private guesthouse room is €14 to €35, and a decent hotel or villa with a pool is €40 to €90 in Bali and the larger cities. Rates in Ubud, Canggu and Labuan Bajo run visibly above the Java average for the same standard, and Lebaran, school holidays and the year-end weeks tighten everything at once.
What actually moves the total is movement. Domestic flights between island groups are €40 to €90 each, a Komodo boat trip from Labuan Bajo runs from about €60 for a shared day boat to €250 and up per person for a good overnight, and a two- or three-night Tanjung Puting klotok is €200 to €400 per person including meals and permits. Volcano trips, dive days and private drivers stack on the same way. Plan those set-piece days first and let the ordinary days fill in around them, because the ordinary days are cheap and predictable and the set pieces are neither.
