March to October brings the most consistent swell, with the biggest waves from August to November. March to June is the driest and calmest window for lagoon and island days.

Siargao runs on the forecast. The reef breaks around General Luna work on swell and tide rather than on your booking, so the island rewards a stay long enough to take the good day when it comes. Cloud 9 is the famous one and the crowded one; the gentler beach breaks and the boat-access reefs spread everyone out considerably.
Leave room for the days that are not about surfing. The three-island hop out to Naked, Daku and Guyam is a straightforward boat morning, Sugba Lagoon is an hour north and worth the early start to beat the vans, and the palm-lined road across the interior is the best motorbike hour in the country. Note the season honestly: the biggest swell overlaps the cyclone months, so a late-year trip needs a weather buffer before any onward flight.
