March to September is drier and better for walking. October to February is wetter, though the feeding platforms and walkways operate year-round.

- Paying for both feeding sessions on the same day. The animals are the same and the second slot mostly buys you another hour of standing.
Sepilok is a junction with three neighbouring attractions and a handful of lodges, twenty-five minutes from Sandakan airport and about ten from the main road east. Staying the night rather than day-tripping from town is what makes the morning feeding relaxed instead of a taxi sprint, and rooms here are cheap by Borneo standards.
The rehabilitation centre runs feedings mid-morning and mid-afternoon, with entry around €6 and a separate camera charge. Orangutan sightings at the platform are likely but never promised, and fewer animals appear when the forest is fruiting. The Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre shares the same car park at roughly €10 and is the more reliable of the two, with viewing platforms over an enclosure of rescued bears.
The Rainforest Discovery Centre, ten minutes away, is the quiet one and the best value at about €3. Its canopy walkway and towers are open early and late, which is when hornbills and flying squirrels are actually moving, and it is a real forest walk rather than a viewing platform. A dorm bed is €7 to €12, a lodge double is €25 to €55, and most people continue east to the Kinabatangan river the next morning by shared transfer.
